About Us

Our Story

We are an independent bookshop located in the picturesque town of Kilcullen, Co. Kildare.  We stock a diverse range of books to suit all ages and a wide variety of tastes.  If you can’t find what you’re looking for, we will do our best to source it and can usually have it for you within a few days.

We stock a select range of greeting cards, wrapping paper, pens and a carefully chosen range of gifts.

We supply primary and post-primary school books as well as Junior and Leaving Certificate exam papers and revision aids.

We sell and accept National Book Tokens.

Our Team

Dawn

Dawn is the owner of Woodbine Books. When not selling books, she can be found talking about books, thinking about books and sometimes even reading books. She owns more cookbooks than anyone could ever need and possesses a depressingly in-depth knowledge of schoolbooks. She is a member of the Bookselling Ireland committee and loves to give advice and support to prospective bookshop owners.

Saoirse

Saoirse is our resident expert on children’s and YA books. She runs our ever-popular kids and YA book clubs and is always happy to recommend books for readers of every age and interest. She is also the person who knows how to locate anything within the bookshop so is the best person to go to with any questions!

Paula

Although Paula began her career in Michelin starred restaurants, her real love has always been words. She has a particular talent for matching books to people and can always be relied on for an offbeat but perfect recommendation. She has single-handedly tripled sales of The Constant Soldier and Mornings in Jenin over the past year! Paula runs our very successful Friday book club and is currently writing a novel.

Ilona

Ilona is a graduate of University of Limerick’s MA in Creative Writing and an award-winning writer so is the ideal person to turn to for help with all things literary. She is especially fond of short stories and essays and is perfectly placed to guide you through our poetry section. She is also responsible for our current staff-wide Twix addiction!
